"What PGM's get up to"

June 2013

Following the successful provincial meeting of the Mark province of Durham, our PGM  thought he should spend the next day in the area. Together with RW. Bro Rev Trevor Walker (PGM Lincolnshire) ,and their wives (both called Lynne) they visited Beamish country museum.

When our PGM was eventually dragged off the trams, which run continuously in both directions around the various attractions, they visited the Masonic Hall. This was the redundant Hall from Sunderland, transferred brick by brick to Beamish (at great expense) some 12 years ago.

Whilst there they met the PGM for Leicestershire and his wife Janet, on a similar expedition. After visiting the coal mine, the Pit village etc they enjoyed fish and chips, cooked in fat, not oil, on a coal fired range (from Nuttalls of Rochdale).

This is the fourth visit of Bro Connolly and Lynne to Beamish, which they recommend.

MQ magazine covered the reopening of the Masonic Hall at Beamish and the article courtesy of MQ can be viewed on this link: View the MQ article now, opens new page.
